Designers Gone Wild
Three Designers, One Sample Room, Eleven Gorgeous Creations

What happens when you put a few interior designers in a sample room, close the door, and give them a full day to just create? No client constraints. No deadlines. Just a glorious, open-ended design playground filled with textiles, stone, and a lot of creative freedom.

At Rowan Hall Interiors, one of the top Knoxville interior design firms, we believe that beautiful design is born from inspiration, expertise, and a little bit of fun. As East Tennessee interior designers with a deep love for timeless design and tailored spaces, we thrive when we get to explore freely. On a recent studio day, our team pulled out all the stops. Fabrics, tiles, paint decks, hardware, and stone samples filled the table, and our imaginations took over. The result? Eleven totally unique flatlays, each one capturing a different design personality and custom interior design point of view.

You may have caught these creations as individual reels on our Instagram (yes, we’re that proud of them). But today, for the first time, we’re bringing them all together in one place. Each palette reflects the kind of intentional design, personalized material curation, and full-service experience we bring to our clients’ homes.

And now for the fun part. Which flatlay is your favorite? And what does that say about your personal style?

Scroll through, get inspired, and let your design personality shine. Whether you’re planning a custom new build, refreshing a beloved space, or relocating to East Tennessee and want a full-service design firm by your side, we hope you find a look that feels like you.

Earthy Elegance

This quiet beauty whispers calm into every corner. With its soft sage, muted taupe, warm wood tones, and a delicate ochre accent, it’s grounded without being heavy. Texture is the real star here, from woven linens to brushed finishes and aged wood grain that invites you to feel the room before you ever see it. This flatlay belongs in a home where natural light spills across the floor in the late afternoon and every object has a purpose.

You might love this look if you’re a nature lover with a refined palette, someone who craves calm in a chaotic world and appreciates the power of simplicity done right.

Moody Mediterranean

Deep terracotta, navy blue, antique brass, and a textural punch of plaster come together to create a board that is bold, sensual, and rooted in rich tradition. This is the kind of design that feels like sipping red wine in a sun-drenched courtyard one moment, then dining under wrought iron chandeliers the next. Equally suited to a moody powder room or a statement kitchen with stories to tell.

You might love this look if you’re drawn to dramatic color, world travel, and the mix of old-world charm with modern edge. You like your interiors with a little intrigue.

Refined Neutrals with Edge

Here’s where quiet confidence comes alive. This palette layers creamy whites with warm stone, a touch of olive, and elegant veining that elevates every surface. The materials are timeless, and the way they’re composed adds just enough modern tension. This board says, “I know who I am” without ever needing to shout.

You might love this look if you’re drawn to symmetry, sophistication, and a sense of order, but also like a little edge in your elegance.

Vintage Charm with a Twist

This flatlay is the design equivalent of a vintage floral dress with killer boots. A nostalgic floral print and aged brass mingle with an unexpected pop of leafy green tile, making the whole look feel delightfully offbeat. We see this living its best life in a 1920s bungalow kitchen, where modern appliances are tucked into charming nooks.

You might love this look if you have a soft spot for estate sales, a Pinterest board full of arches and heirlooms, and an eye for mixing the old with the unexpected.

High Desert Harmony

Warm rusts, sunbaked neutrals, and a bold leather swatch come together in a palette that feels both grounding and aspirational. There’s an almost cinematic quality to this flatlay. Picture New Mexico skies meeting Aspen lodge. The mood is masculine, modern, and deeply anchored in nature.

You might love this look if you’re into clean lines, warm tones, and interiors that feel like a page out of Dwell with a side of western romance.

Coastal Luxe

This is the anti-nautical coastal look. It’s all about texture, restraint, and breathability. Woven elements, soft whites, and shades of blue feel more like Santorini at dusk than anything striped or beachy. A patterned tile gives it global appeal.

You might love this look if you’re a lover of travel, natural light, and linen. You value serenity, space to breathe, and timeless coastal charm that doesn’t shout.

Graphite Glam

This board is a masterclass in drama. Deep graphite hues paired with brass accents and stone that practically glows under moody lighting. This is the palette that puts “evening wear” into your interiors. Think sleek home bar, boutique-inspired powder room, or anywhere you want guests to say, “Wow.”

You might love this look if you live for velvet, low lighting, and interiors that feel like a James Bond film. Chic, seductive, and unforgettable.

Soft & Sophisticated

Layered whites and greys, elegant patterns, and just a trace of shimmer. This board is fashion-forward without being flashy. It’s the cashmere jogger of interior palettes. Perfect for a peaceful retreat that still feels elevated and intentional.

You might love this look if you find beauty in restraint, value comfort with polish, and love when softness meets structure in all the right ways.

Graphic Modern Farmhouse

Classic black-and-white tile meets warm woods and humble materials in a look that’s clean, clever, and lived-in. It has the warmth of a shiplap kitchen with the boldness of a gallery wall. This kind of space works just as hard as the people living in it.

You might love this look if you lean traditional but love a little punch, and you’re always balancing functionality with charm.

Warm Modern Vintage

Copper and caramel tones pair with smoky gray and a hint of graphic pattern, giving this palette a nostalgic but contemporary feel. It could live in a mid-century home or a newly built space craving character. Cozy, elevated, and personal.

You might love this look if you shop vintage, light incense in the evenings, and believe design should have soul.

Garden Party Refined

Romantic florals, soft greens, and tailored trim come together with feminine structure and timeless charm. Think Parisian apartment meets Southern hostess. This look would thrive in a guest suite, breakfast nook, or boutique closet.

You might love this look if you believe florals are always a good idea, live for fine details, and like your interiors with a little wink.
