Your First Month with Rowan Hall Interiors
So, you’ve decided to hire a Knoxville interior designer. You’ve stalked portfolios, curated Pinterest boards, and even checked your calendar for a potential “reveal day.” You’re officially ready to turn that house into a dream home. But now you’re wondering… what actually happens next?
At Rowan Hall Interiors, we believe interior design shouldn’t feel mysterious or overwhelming. It should feel exciting, organized, and dare we say…fun! That’s exactly why we created our 4-Step Full-Service Interior Design Process. It’s designed to keep you informed and inspired every step of the way. So grab your coffee (or cocktail, we don’t judge), and let’s walk through what to expect in your very first month working with our luxury home design team.
Step 1: The Welcome Packet & Consultation
Once you’ve decided to move forward, we’ll send over your Welcome Packet. This includes the retainer request, your customized scope of work, and a Letter of Agreement. Once that’s signed and returned, your project date is officially on the books. Cue the confetti!
You’ll also receive a short questionnaire to help us get to know you and your space. Whether you already have a vision board saved to your camera roll or just know you want something better than what you’ve got, this is where we start aligning your dream with our design expertise.
Next comes the two-hour onsite consultation. This is when Alfie (our founder and lead designer) rolls up with her tape measure, notepad, and decades of transitional interior design experience. You’ll walk us through your home, your wishlist, your must-haves and definitely-nots. This is your time to spill all your design hopes, Pinterest dreams, and HGTV obsessions. We’re here for it.
Step 2: Let the Design Magic Begin
After your consultation, our team gets to work behind the scenes. We take measurements, photos, and a boatload of notes. Then comes the fun part: crafting your custom furnishings plan and style concept. Over the next few weeks, we’ll start developing floor plans, elevations, mood boards, and product selections. If your project involves home renovation or home remodeling, we’ll be drafting up specs your contractor will actually understand (you’re welcome, builders).
Sylvia, our resident color whisperer, might be spotted in our Farragut studio surrounded by swatches and samples. Alfie will be narrowing down antique accents or signature lighting that speaks to your style. Meanwhile, our project managers are building out a detailed schedule and sourcing everything you’ll need—right down to the rug fringe and drapery rods.
By the time your presentation day rolls around, you’ll see your vision come to life in a way that feels tangible and exciting.
What We’re Doing While You’re Waiting
It’s easy to assume that if your phone isn’t ringing, nothing’s happening. But we promise, things are humming along in our studio. This is the phase where design development, vendor coordination, and creative decision-making are in full swing. Your ideas are being transformed into a functional, stylish, personalized plan—and that takes some careful crafting.

The Rest of the Journey: Steps 3 & 4
While your first month focuses on steps one and two, here’s a little sneak peek of what’s coming next.
Step 3: Ordering & Project Management
Once you’ve fallen in love with your design plan, we handle all the ordering, scheduling, and behind-the-scenes coordination. Your luxury home furnishings and materials are stored safely in our climate-controlled staging area until installation day. If there’s construction, we’re visiting the site regularly to ensure everything is happening according to plan. And yes, we send you weekly updates so you’re never left wondering where things stand.
Step 4: Installation & Reveal
This is the grand finale. We install every last detail, from furniture to artwork to the perfect luxury home styling on your coffee table, so your home looks like it stepped right out of a magazine. We recommend you treat yourself to a spa day or weekend getaway in the Smoky Mountains while we work our magic. Then, just like your favorite home makeover show, you’ll walk into your new space and see it all come together for the first time. We’ll have tissues ready for happy tears.
