Designing a Home Means Making Hundreds of Decisions. We Help You Make the Right Ones.

Most people think designing a home is about choosing paint colors, countertops, and maybe a beautiful sofa.

In reality, creating a thoughtfully designed home means making hundreds of decisions. Many of them happen long before the first piece of furniture arrives, and some need to be made before construction even begins.

The challenge is not simply making those choices. It is understanding how every decision affects the next.

That is where we come in.

At Rowan Hall Interiors, our job is much more than selecting beautiful finishes. We help our clients navigate every decision with confidence, ensuring each choice supports the overall vision for their home. The end result feels effortless, but there is an incredible amount of planning behind every beautiful space.

Before Construction Even Begins

One of the biggest surprises for many homeowners is how many important decisions happen before a contractor starts building.

Long before tile, lighting, or furniture enters the conversation, we are helping clients think through how they actually want to live in their home.

Questions like these become the foundation for every design decision that follows.

Will this room be used for entertaining or quiet evenings with family?

Where should furniture be placed for the best conversation and traffic flow?

How much natural light enters the room throughout the day?

Where should outlets, switches, and sconces be located?

How should the kitchen function for the way this family cooks?

Will there be enough clearance around the island and appliances?

Where will future window treatments be installed?

Many of these choices become difficult, expensive, or even impossible to change once construction is underway. That is why thoughtful planning is one of the most valuable parts of the design process.

During our Welcome Packet and Consultation phase, we spend time understanding how you live, what you love, and what you want your home to become. That early planning creates a roadmap that keeps every future decision aligned with your goals.

Then Come the Finishes

Once the foundation has been established, it is time to begin selecting the materials that will define your home.

This is often the stage people picture when they imagine working with an interior designer.

Flooring.

Paint.

Tile.

Countertops.

Cabinet finishes.

Hardware.

Plumbing fixtures.

Lighting.

Grout color.

Trim details.

Individually, each selection may seem simple. Together, they become a carefully orchestrated collection of materials that need to complement one another both visually and functionally.

A countertop may look beautiful on its own, but does it work with the cabinet stain? Does the flooring complement both? Will the lighting enhance those finishes during the day and at night?

Every decision influences the next.

During our Full Service Design process, Alfie and our team spend weeks gathering samples, creating floor plans, developing elevations, and building complete design presentations so clients can see how every piece fits together before a single order is placed.

Then Come the Furnishings

Once construction and finishes are complete, another round of important decisions begins.

Now we are thinking about how your home will feel every single day.

How large should the sofa be?

What seat depth will be most comfortable for your family?

Which fabrics will stand up beautifully to everyday life?

What size rug allows the room to feel balanced?

How high should the coffee table sit?

Do the lamps provide enough light for reading?

What artwork belongs in this space?

Which window treatments complete the room?

How do we layer accessories so the home feels collected instead of cluttered?

These are the decisions that transform a beautifully built house into a warm, inviting home that reflects the people who live there.

The Details Most People Never Think About

Some of the smallest decisions often have the biggest impact.

Should the chandelier hang 34 inches or 36 inches above the dining table?

Is a one and one quarter inch cabinet knob properly scaled, or would a larger size feel more balanced?

Does this room need matte paint or eggshell?

Will dining chairs slide comfortably on this rug?

Will this performance fabric still look beautiful after years of family gatherings?

These are not decisions most homeowners expect to make.

Until they find themselves standing in a showroom surrounded by dozens of samples, wondering how every option suddenly feels important.

Fortunately, this is exactly where we thrive.

Why We Love This Process

At Rowan Hall Interiors, we genuinely enjoy thinking through these details.

Alfie often says that great design is about seeing the whole picture before anyone else can. Every choice has a ripple effect, and our team loves solving those puzzles long before they ever become problems.

Our clients should not have to become experts in furniture scale, fabric performance, lighting placement, cabinetry, or window treatment construction.

That is our job.

Behind the scenes, we coordinate with trusted vendors, builders, and trades, manage procurement, oversee project timelines, and carefully store furnishings in our climate controlled staging space until reveal day. While things may appear quiet from the client’s perspective, there is an incredible amount of work happening to keep every detail moving forward smoothly.
We spend our days making hundreds of interconnected decisions so our clients can enjoy the exciting parts without feeling overwhelmed by the rest.
