Starting it All
Over twenty years ago, Rowan Hall Interiors began as a way for founder, Alfie Rowan, to stay busy and do what she loved. With her long-time best friend, she opened a small home decor and antique shop in Knoxville’s Southern Market. Her love of finding beautiful pieces and keen eye for selecting the perfect addition to any room created a desire from her customers to begin designing spaces within their homes. Rowan Hall began its evolution into the full-service interior design business it is today.
While she has spent decades learning from industry professionals and honing her skills, she attributes her natural abilities to genetics. She supposes that while some have a knack for numbers or computers, she thrives in selecting beautiful pieces to bring out a room’s full potential. Her aunt was a talented interior designer who began her own business at age 40, and her grandmother was an antique arts dealer, so Alfie spent many days surrounded by beautiful things with these women she looked up to with admiration.
Along with her natural talent, she inherited a love for antique pieces, unique finds, and traditional design. However, as seen in Rowan Hall’s portfolio, she prides herself on being able to adapt to the desires and personal style of each client. From mid-century modern elements, to bold and contemporary selections, her only goal is to curate spaces and choose pieces that make our clients light up when they enter their new Rowan Hall room.
A Delicate Balance
Her perfect day would be spent on the slopes of Colorado with her husband, Mitch, and sons, Austin and Jackson. She has called Knoxville, Tennessee “home” her entire life, but travel is where she acquires the inspiration to make beautiful spaces come to life. As a Knoxville native, she is no stranger to the beautiful East Tennessee backdrop her designs often possess. Growing up in Rocky Hill and graduating from Bearden High School and the University of Tennessee, Alfie studied biology in college and became a mom of two before her natural knack for home design began to blossom. She balanced motherhood, owning a business, and designing beautiful homes, and as her boys grew up she was able to dedicate more time to her passion.
Today, Rowan Hall Interiors is her full time job, and Alfie leads a team of design experts to create beautiful homes all over East Tennessee and the Southeast. From beachside vacation homes in Florida to family homes with stunning Tellico Lake views, Rowan Hall’s lead designer and founder loves connecting with her clients to bring their dream homes to life. She’s been dedicated to learning from industry professionals, taking trips to market and expanding her expertise for over two decades, and she doesn’t think she will ever stop learning.
