Almost 30 years ago, Knoxville natives Alfie and Mitch Rowan chose to raise their family in Farragut, Tennessee. Decades later, their children have fled the nest, they’ve spent over 20 years growing Rowan Hall Interiors, and they still call Farragut “home.” Who better to weigh in on the Knoxville suburb than them?!

Farragut is one of East Tennessee’s favorite places to raise a family. The top schools, safe neighborhoods and convenient location make it a premier choice for parents looking for a small-town atmosphere for their children to grow up. Ghosts of Decades Past

The Knoxville suburb’s history dates back to the Civil War, but it wasn’t officially incorporated until 1980. The homes and neighborhoods do tend to reflect that late 1900s style. Dark, dated kitchens from the 90s and 80s floral wallpaper aren’t uncommon in Farragut homes. The good news is that most of these homes have excellent bones and quality craftsmanship due to the neighborhoods’ high building standards. One Farragut home has been the subject of several Rowan Hall renovations throughout the years. We began in their very brown kitchen, gave their basement bonus room a fresh new feel, said “goodbye” to a wood-paneled office from decade’s past, and touched just about every room in between. Elkmont Station – The ladies of Rowan Hall love a small plate dinner! Specifically, the pimento cheese fritters and oyster stew from Elkmont Station.

Connors Steak and Seafood – Our go-to for team meetings and work-day lunches, and we’re never disappointed! Connors is always a crowd-pleaser.

Seasons – Their menu is–you guessed it–seasonal, so get the summer tomato salad while you can! You can’t go wrong with this Farragut favorite anytime of year.

Lakeside Living Great Room Fireplace Before and After

In 2022, our clients purchased a waterfront home in Tellico Village, and they relocated from California to the growing Loudon County community. Their new home didn’t suit their design style, so we helped bring it into the current decade with an interior renovation that fits their new surroundings. Retirees beginning their next chapter may choose Tellico Village, a 55+ community with 3 golf courses, 4,800 acres and countless activities to stay busy. This community is made up of 8 different neighborhoods throughout Loudon County, home to more than nine thousand residents.

Calhouns – A local, lakeside classic that never disappoints! We go for the views and the soft pretzels.

Aubrey’s – Another local staple that we love at any of their locations! Alfie’s boys had many Aubrey’s pregame meals generously donated when they played high school ball at Knoxville Catholic. We think they must feed every sports team in Knoxville!

El Senor Rancho – You can never go wrong with chips and salsa at the closest Mexican restaurant. Alfie loves their fajitas!

Little Italy – A Tellico Village staple! The locals love this unsuspecting hole-in-the-wall, and we totally understand why.

Toqua Sports Bar and Grill – Alfie and Mitch love to drive out to this Tellico Village lakeside spot that overlooks the Toqua Golf Course putting green. It’s worth their drive from Farragut to unwind after a busy week.

Caffeine Kicks

Coffee Culture – The best cappuccino in Loudon County! Alfie loves to have meetings here or get her caffeine fix on the way to our Tellico projects.

Sweet Treats

Master Donuts – The best apple fritters you’ve ever eaten and a little TOO convenient on our way to Tellico Village appointments!

Tic Toc Ice Cream Parlor – Downtown Loudon’s tastiest treat! An adorable ice cream shop that will send you back to the glory days.

Chez Guevera – Their name may have changed 20 years ago, but Knoxville natives still know this eclectic dive as “La Paz.” Amazing food and the best salsa verde north of the Alamo! 

A Dopo – Pizza, gelato, wine… There’s not a bad thing on the menu. Make a reservation to take your honey, and don’t forget to ask for extra sweet hot!

Kefi – If you see our marketing manager having a cocktail flight on a Friday night, no you didn’t. Kefi is the best Downtown spot for a girls’ night out, and you might spot a local celeb or two!

Point B – All you need to know is that they have a french fry sampling board. This new West Knoxville eatery is a fun and delicious go-to.

Hard Knox Pizza – With 3 locations around Knoxville, Hard Knox is always the right idea. If you can’t decide what to order, just pick the one with the best name. You can’t go wrong!

Caffeine Kicks

K Brew – One everything bagel and an iced latte, please! It’s Knoxville’s favorite coffee spot for a reason, and thankfully, there’s always one close by. 

Honeybee Coffee Co – We won’t name names, but one of our team members can never turn down a brown sugar macadamia milk latte from Honeybee. Give it a try and let us know if your life is forever changed.

Sweet Treats and Grocery Go-Tos

Market Square Farmers’ Market – Fresh flowers, seasonal veggies and maybe a baked good to reward yourself! We love the Nourish Knoxville markets for giving us a chance to support local farmers and vendors, and it’s a fun time for all.

Ham ‘N Goodys – If you haven’t tried their lemon cookies, you’re not a Knoxvillian yet. Consider Ham ‘N Goodys your official initiation!

Goodness to Go – When Alfie’s son, Jackson, went to the Episcopal School of Knoxville, he had the best school lunches in America. Now, the same ladies who ran that cafeteria are feeding Knoxville! Stop in for a quick, homemade dinner when you’re in a pinch and thank us later.

Butler & Bailey Market – Despite many grocery chain options in Farragut, Alfie and Mitch drive a short 25 minutes for their weekly shopping at this quaint, locally-owned grocery store in Rocky Hill. They love the quality produce, local products and friendly staff so much that it’s worth the trip!
